An Immense Failure of Character

As personal injury lawyers in Los Angeles, we obviously see a great many cases involving behavior that is less than ideal. We understand, of course, that people are flawed and make a great many mistakes.

Even so, working as a personal injury vehicle accident lawyer, by far the most baffling cases we often see are the deadly hit and run cases. A recent tragedy, in which 54 year-old juvenile probation officer Ken Hamilton was killed driving his motorcycle in the East Los Angeles area, reportedly by someone driving a silver 4-door Honda Civic DX, is especially sad to read about.

This one hits closer to home than many cases not only because Cameron Brock is a top motorcycle accident attorney in Los Angeles but because he is a also an avid motorcyclist himself. Of course, it's not surprising that someone who seriously injures a motorcyclist might have an impulse to flee responsibility for such a serious incident, but the lack of compassion for the victim, who's life may well be in the balance, is what really shocks us.

You would think that simple human feelings and pangs of conscience would be enough to motivate people to do the right thing in these circumstances, but that's clearly not always the case. The sad fact is that a lot of us need to be forced into doing the right thing, or pay a heavy price afterwards. That's why legal penalties and personal injury torts are needed.
