An Increasingly Automated World

While considering the plethora of modern conveniences at our disposal, it's natural to look to the future with a profound sense of optimism. Many people are looking forward to the day they can enjoy the comfort of commuting and going on road trips without having to get behind the wheel, and news stories create the idea that this will become a reality sooner and sooner.

Despite having an otherwise stellar safety record, one of Google's self-driving vehicles struck a public bus recently in Mountain View, CA. Fortunately, as the car was only traveling at 2mph, it wasn't a matter of personal injury, but it does underline the fact that automated systems are not always without flaws.

Any experienced vehicle accident lawyer would understand our concerns in this matter, and we are anxious to see how the federal and state governments may create new or change existing legislation to accommodate this technology. Perhaps it would be best to consider how many injuries and accidents could be avoided if we allow computerized systems to control our vehicles. Considering that fact that a great number of them are caused by intoxication, fatigue, and poor judgment, we may benefit from continuing to place trust in machines. As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney firm, this may indeed be a reality worth anticipating.
