A Safer 2014?

2014 is only two days old and, no doubt, hundreds of people across the United States have died in auto accidents and other incidents that are, by definition, entirely preventable. As personal injury lawyers in Los Angeles, the Law Offices of Burg & Brock often see the worst of the worst when in comes to accidents, and we really would like to see a change.

That's not to say we haven't made some great strides. Some of us can still remember a time when many cars didn't even come with seat belts, and few people bothered to use the ones that were available. Moreover, vehicles in general are far safer now but, ask any vehicle accident lawyer, terrible things still happen on a regular basis. We can look forward to more technological innovation; Google's work on self-driving cars is an especially intriguing area. At the same time, technology will never solve all of our problems.

The number of fatal and serious accidents will not drop as much as it needs to if we don't also continue to work on what you might call the human factor. For most of us, this means such common sense measures as driving in a considerate and careful fashion, making sure our cars are in decent working order, and, of course, never driving while impaired by alcohol, distraction, fatigue, or our favorite portable devices. If we all take those steps, then 2014 really will be a lot safer than prior years. Of course, even the most careful person might still themselves the victim of an accident and in need of an attorney in Los Angeles. The team here at the Law Offices of Burg & Brock is ready to help at any time. Just call us at 888-509-2998.
